Exhibit Columbus' inaugural exhibition began Thursday, August 24, with events happening throughout the weekend. The 18 installations of Exhibit Columbus in and around downtown, the architects and designers participating in the exhibition, and our community all came together around design and architecture.

Our opening weekend starts early as we open the High School Installation, with the six Columbus students that designed and built it, assisted by the Indiana University Center for Art+Design

Please join us for the Preview Party of Exhibit Columbus’ inaugural exhibition opening. Come for an evening of cocktails, food, and entertainment in celebration of architecture, design, and community.

On the eve of Exhibit Columbus opening, the Preview Party will take place in a very special location featuring a cocktail reception, dinner, and entertainment. This party will be an occasion to meet and honor the five J. Irwin and Xenia S. Miller Prize winners, other designers whose work is being presented in the 2017 exhibition, and those who have helped make this exhibition possible. Join the Exhibit Columbus team, the Columbus community, and others coming from near and far in celebrating this exciting event for our city.

VIP ticket holders may arrive at 5:00 pm for more intimate experience and conversation with Exhibit Columbus participants and supporters.

To get the day started, Architect’s Newspaper will host a wide-ranging conversation about architecture, art, design, and community. An exciting array of guests will include international experts, community leaders, and a few surprises.

5th Street to Mill Race Park
2:00–4:30 pm

To officially open the inaugural exhibition of Exhibit Columbus, we are going to close down 5th Street, The Avenue of the Architects, and celebrate the accomplishments of the five Miller Prize Winners at each of their installations. You will get to hear from the Miller Prize Winners and help open their installations to the public as we process as a community from east to west on 5th Street, ending in Mill Race Park for a final celebration.

We'll begin at 2 pm outside of First Christian Church, across from the Cleo Rogers Memorial Library, to recognize 'Wiikiaami' and 'Conversation Plinth'. Then join us as the Circle City Stompers lead us down 5th to Washington Street where we'll officially open the five Washington Street Installations. We'll continue to the corner of Jackson Street to recognize 'The Exchange' and 'Anything can happen in the woods.' Our procession ends in Mill Race Park, where we'll gather at 'Another Circle' and stay for the Mill Race Park 25th Anniversary Celebration.
