2024 Symposium Yes And

The 2024 Exhibit Columbus Symposium will take place downtown at three key venues, allowing attendees to connect with all of the participants.

The Symposium will explore ideas related to the curatorial theme, Yes And, by highlighting improv and stand-up comedy as a way to connect with people and our environment.

Symposium Keynote and Performer Biographies


Lauren Curry

Lauren taught dance at Midland Festival Ballet in Midland, TX, for about seven years before returning to her hometown of Indianapolis in 2016. Since then, she has worked with No Exit Performance, Crossroads Dance Indy, Phoenix Rising Dance Company, and Rebecca Pappas. She is the Executive Director at Indy Movement Arts, a movement-centered non-profit that offers weekly classes, presents regional and national artists for performances and workshops, and supports new work by local dance makers. Isaac Selya

Isaac is a musician of remarkable versatility and has extensive experience as a conductor, pianist, vocal coach, cellist, and entrepreneur. He is the Music Director of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and founder and Artistic Director of Queen City Opera, where he has led acclaimed performances that combine high-caliber classical performances with contemporary relevance. Rashika Jaipuriar

Rashika is a journalist turned stand-up comedian based in Cincinnati. She’s witty, entertaining, and eager to get personal on stage, skillfully combining her charming storytelling style with unexpected punchlines. Rashika loves talking about being a Stay-at-Home Daughter, living with her immigrant family’s antics, navigating her love-hate relationship with the Midwest, and gestures broadly at everything in these unprecedented times. Mat Alano-Martin

Mat has spent the last 15 years on the road, telling jokes and sharing stories all across America. He has appeared at comedy clubs, theaters, punk rock dives, redneck roadhouses, casinos, colleges, living rooms, and everywhere in between. Alano-Martin’s albums “Profiled as Such,” “Blood Mouth” and “Midnight Nachos” can be heard in regular rotation on Sirius/XM’s comedy channels, and he has appeared on NPR, Laughs on Hulu and The Bob & Tom Show.  He has worked with such notable acts as Patton Oswalt, Tig Notaro, Maria Bamford, Chris Gethard, and Brother Ali. Kelly Collette

Kelly is a standup comedian and writer who began her career in Cincinnati, Ohio. She now works the road full time, performing in clubs, theaters, and independent rooms. She has been featured on Sirius XM, NPR, and Pandora. Her comedy special, I Made You This, produced by DryBar Comedy, has amassed over 3 million views in clips. She was a finalist on CMT’s Next Big Comic and toured with “The Nobodies of Comedy”, a rotating cast of comedians hand-selected as the best unknown talent in the country. Kelly was named Cincinnati Citybeat’s Best Comedian in 2020. In 2022, she was an Artist In Residence at Acadia National Park–the first standup comedian in the National Parks history. Julia McMorrough

Julia has been the design architect for a wide range of project types, including hospitals, libraries, university buildings, and schools for firms in Boston, Kansas City, and New York City. She is a registered architect and associate professor in architecture at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, where she teaches architectural design and representations courses. She received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas and a Master of Science in Architecture from Columbia University.
